It’s called 2020 Vision: Reach The City, Reach The World.
It’s our vision of the place Creek Road Presbyterian Church plays in our community now and in the future, but it’s simple.
It’s about Jesus.
Jesus had a heart for the lost. He came, he says, to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10). As a church we are serious about being shaped by Jesus. One of the ways Jesus shapes us is by giving us a new heart through the Holy Spirit. A heart that beats for Jesus. A heart that beats for the lost. From our new heart comes a new song: A heart song. Here’s what Paul says in Ephesians 5.
Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
By 2020, our city is going to be home to a lot of lost people: About 3 Million lost people.
There are other churches in Brisbane who are keen to reach the lost for Jesus – but even if there were hundreds of other churches doing this, that’s not enough churches in a city of this size.
So, at Creek Road, we want to use our resources to reach more people in more places in Brisbane, in Queensland, in Australia, and around the world. To do this we need to keep trying new things, finding new ways to introduce lost people to Jesus.
We want to play our part in reaching our city, and reaching our world. By being a church full of people whose hearts beat for Jesus, and for the lost.
We put together a video to sum up some of the steps we’re taking to do this in 2014. Check it out. Share it with your friends. Pray for us. Pray for Brisbane. Pray that there would be many in Brisbane whose hearts are beating for the lost. Beating for Jesus. And many voices telling people who Jesus is.
